 Piru Creek

Piru Creek

Matching stream releases from Pyramid Dam into Piru Creek as closely as possible with natural surface inflow into Pyramid Lake is intended to prevent incidental take of the federally endangered arroyo toad downstream of the dam. DWR has completed the environmental review process required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and is requesting amendment of its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license for the California Aqueduct, FERC Project No 2426, to revise the license's stream release and trout stocking requirements so that they will be compatible with natural flows.

The Draft and Final Environmental Impact Reports prepared in compliance with CEQA are being provided to FERC in support of the request for license amendment. The FERC will conduct additional environmental review, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, before making a decision on DWR's request for license amendment. FERC's public review period will be announced in the Federal Register, and anyone wishing to comment on the request for license amendment should contact the Commission during that period.
